I’m back!

Free Happy Woman Enjoying Nature. Beauty Girl Outdoor. Freedom cHi everyone, I’m back! I haven’t left the face of the earth yet. It’s just that my health took a turn for the worst late last summer. But I have great news for anyone out there with chronic health problems!

First of all I need to explain to you what happened.

I was doing fine while I was on the candida diet and taking my anti-fungals, but not long after I stopped them the candida came back, and this time, with a vengeance.

My interstitial cystitis was worse than ever! I was having bladder spasms and the pain was relentless, and to top it off it had triggered my IBS, which I hadn’t had for years.

As nice as my nutritionist was, she couldn’t do any more for me and advised me to see a Urologist.  So I went to see one, and he just wanted to insert a camera inside me to stretch my bladder, and then send me home with (guess what) more antibiotics. So I said “No thanks!”, and left his office never to return.

Losing weight and feeling sick every morning I was determined to find another nutritionist, and I did. She was really thorough and took my case seriously. She put me on 14 vitamins a day and told me to stay on a gluten, dairy and sugar-free diet. She also ordered a comprehensive stool test for me, which came back showing that I had intestinal thrush that probably worked it’s way into my bladder and surrounding tissue.

I didn’t have any lactobacillus (the good bacteria) in my body, but plenty of the ‘bad guys’. So I did what she told me to do for about 4 months, but it wasn’t enough.

Too weak to work, on ‘Christmas Eve’ my husband and I decided it would be best if I gave up working for a year and focused on getting better. I am a Christian, so while at home I decided to study the foods in the Bible to see what God had to say about what we should eat.

Studying His word, I really felt comforted. I was reading all about oxen and how the Jewish people valued them for their strength to plough the fields. They used their milk to make butter and cheese, and their meat for soup and stews. Then I thought I’d do some research on the benefits (such as the vitamins and minerals) you get from eating everything that came from this wonderful animal, and I was amazed when I came across Bovine Colostrum.

colos

Bovine Colostrum, which is the pre-milk that comes from cows, is full of antibodies and contains absolutely everything that the newborn calf needs to live a healthy life. Bovine Colostrum and human colostrum is almost identical, and has been proven over the years to help people recover from many chronic diseases.

I have done a lot of research into it, as I wanted to be sure that the calves were getting enough and that the cows weren’t being harmed in the process. I’ve been taking Immune Tree Bovine Colostrum for 3 weeks now and I’m almost pain free! I can feel it working on strengthening my immune system, and I’ve stopped losing weight! Praise God for his wonderful guidance through His inspired and preserved word.

Simple Saturday: Piera’s Italian-Style Burgers

My parents have always used fresh breadcrumbs and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese in the mixture to make their delicious burgers, but as I am lactose and gluten intolerant, I have chosen Pecorino Romano cheese, which is made from goats and sheep milk, and I also don’t use bread. People say they are just as tasty; I’m hope you find them tasty too! 🙂

Pieras Italian Style Burgers

Piera’s Italian Style Burgers

Piera’s Italian-Style Burgers

  • 2 tablespoons of rapeseed oil
  • 4 tablespoons of gluten-free flour

For the meat mixture

  • 450g or 500g beef mince
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 heaped tablespoons of grated Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed or thinly sliced
  • 20g or 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped parsley
  • Pepper for seasoning and a little sea salt

The above ingredients would make about 8 small burgers.

How to make it

  1. Put the mince, eggs, Pecorino Romano cheese, parsley, and garlic into a large bowl, season with a little salt and pepper, and mix all together with a fork until all combined.
  2. Flour the surface of a large tray and sprinkle a little flour over your hands, so that the meat mixture does not stick to them.
  3. Scoop out a heaped tablespoon of meat mixture onto the floured surface and mould into a burger shape.
  4. Repeat until you get about eight burgers, roughly 1cm thick and 7cm wide
  5. Put 2 tablespoons of oil into a large frying pan, and fry the burgers gently on a low to medium heat for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Press the burgers gently, and turn them over until golden and cooked through.

I like to serve these burgers with a big salad!

The Asyra Test really helped me!

The Asyra TestFor anyone out there that’s feeling down.

Four months ago I had an allergy/food intolerance test called ‘The Asyra Test‘ at my local health food shop.

It was painless and there were no needles involved, yay! All you do is grip two small bars with your hands, which are connected to a specialised Asyra computer, and hold them for about a minute or two. Any allergies/intolerances will then appear on the computer screen.

I couldn’t believe that I had gone backwards and forwards to the doctors for about a year complaining of lower back pain, ovulation and period pain, constant pressure on my bladder, and feeling so tired all the time, and had lots of tests, but they couldn’t find the root cause. Yet within ONE HOUR of having The Asyra Test done the Asyra practicitioner/nutritional advisor had sorted me out, what a relief!

She explained to me that the antibiotics I had taken in the past had stripped my gut from any good bacteria, causing intestinal thrush, and that the bad bacteria had taken over. This had weakened my digestive tract and in turn made me gluten and lactose intolerent.

She put me on a lactose, wheat/gluten free, and sugar free diet for about three months, in order to starve the yeast (thrush), and allow my gut to heal.

I found this difficult at times especially in the evenings when I craved a cup of tea and biscuits, but it’s been worth it and my nutritionist has always been there for me (just a phone call away).

I also had to take a course of supplements:

  • Probiotics
  • Caprylic Acid
  • Olive Leaf Extract
  • Grape Fruit Seed Extract
  • Waterfall D- Mannose

Today, I’m feeling great! I can’t thank my nutritionist enough for being so patient and understanding. As I said before, it’s been four months now and I’m getting stronger day by day, praise the Lord!

If you are always feeling under the weather, I would definitely recommend The Asyra Test (it cost me £50.00 GBP). At least YOU will be taking back control again of your life as much as you can.

I hope this has helped some one out there. Please do feel free to leave a comment or email me if you have any questions, or if you have already had The Asyra Test yourself. I’d love to hear from you.

Eat. Nourish. Glow. – another book for my collection

Hi everyone,

Eat Nourish GlowI went shopping with my family yesterday, and it was really nice to see the cafe’s and restaurants busy with people sitting outside enjoying the weather.

Anyway, we popped into a bookshop, and just as I was thinking I have enough books to read at the moment, another one caught my eye. It’s called ‘Eat. Nourish. Glow.‘ by Amelia Freer.

Started reading and scanning through it last night, and it’s full of very interesting information, wonderful recipes, and lovely pictures to go with them.

This is just the kind of book I love. Going to have to get another book shelf soon 🙂
